Halo Infinite Esports Event Announced for Later This Year

Recently, the Halo Infinite Esports lead Tashi confirmed that there will not only be esports for the new Halo game but also one coming this year in hopes that it will be safer later. Last year because of the game’s delay, the Halo esports team had to reimagine their plans to accommodate the setback. To fill the competitive gap and content, they announced the Halo 5 and Master Chief Collection Pro Series for late 2020 causing some fans to question Halo Infinite’s esports events. While there is little information, Tashi mentioned that there will be more updates coming this summer, but the event and venue have been set. The event will be designed by Esports Engine who specialize in organizing these competitions. Halo Infinite is set to be released later this year on the XBOne, XBSeries, and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

Halo esports started in 2014, and since then has gained a lot of followers. The Halo Esports team discussed how they are planning to maintain and encourage viewership in their recent blog “Designing the Halo Esports Ecosystem.” Tashi explains that diversity, partners, content, rewards, and others are ways the team is able to improve the Halo community and create an even better experience for players. He writes,

“In the long term, we want to continue to invest in the growth of viewership via the game. We believe that enhancing the viewer experience will provide more opportunities for all content creators within the ecosystem.”

Thanks to the Halo esports team, players and fans alike can look forward to an exciting season with the release of Halo Infinite and the announcement of the first official event. For more information, be sure to check out the Halo Waypoint website.
