Season hits midway point in Turkey

Wednesday | 28 Apr 2021

The eSports WRC Championship presented by Toyota Gazoo Racing reaches its midpoint this weekend (30 April – 03 May) as action moves to Turkey for a three-stage challenge.

The question on everyone’s lips as attention turns to Turkey’s south-western city of Marmaris is just how long can Sami-Joe’s winning streak continue? Entering the seventh rally of the 13-round season, the Lebanese driver is yet to lose a round, having built a seemingly unassailable 51-point lead over his closest rival, Nexl, who arrives in Turkey coming off his worst result of the season.

Nexl appeared out of sorts in Germany, only managing fifth. A commendable result for most, it was below expectations for the two-time world-beating champion, who finished behind three of his Race Clutch team-mates.

Overall, that was, of course, good news for Race Clutch, who claimed four of the top five spots and now trail Seventh Gear eSports Club by just four points in the teams’ championship. Given their upward trajectory of late and some struggles for consistency from Sami-Joe’s team-mates,  they will be hoping to leave Turkey in the lead.

The weekend’s test in Turkey begins with a 6.59km run through Datça Reverse, before returning to the service park. Following the midday service, it is back out onto the stages for another 6.59km jaunt, this time on Ciçekli.

The weekend then concludes with a 2.2km sprint in downtown Marmaris.

Competition is open to anyone playing WRC9.
