Banned and Restricted MTG Cards February 2021

Magic The Gathering’s new list of bans removes 15 cards from 4 formats.

In the most recent Banned and Restricted MTG cards announcement, Wizards of the Coast revealed that 15 cards from 4 formats are supposed to get banned. This includes Omnath, Locus of Creation, from the Historic format, and Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath, from three formats. Aside from that, some new rules have been applied to the Cascade. Check out the full list of bans and rules down below:

  • Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath
  • Omnath, Locus of Creation

  • Arcum’s Astrolabe
  • Dreadhorde Arcanist
  • Oko, Thief of Crowns

  • Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath
  • Field of the Dead
  • Simian Spirit Guide
  • Tibalt’s Trickery

  • Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath
  • Balustrade Spy
  • Teferi, Time Raveler
  • Undercity Informer
  • Wilderness Reclamation

Cascade New Rule:

  • Cascade is a triggered ability that functions only while the spell with cascade is on the stack. “Cascade” means “When you cast this spell, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card whose converted mana cost is less than this spell’s converted mana cost. You may cast that spell without paying its mana cost if its converted mana cost is less than this spell’s converted mana cost. Then put all cards exiled this way that weren’t cast on the bottom of your library in a random order.”

While the Banned and Restricted MTG cards’ changes have been applied immediately after the announcement, the new Cascade rule will be live as of February 17.

Magic Online and Magic The Gathering Arena are both available for free on PC. There’s a MOBA game in the development process from the Magic franchise called Magic Legends. While there’s no official release date for the game yet, the developers are now accepting requests for playing the game on an upcoming Beta phase. Magic Legends will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
