What Is Friday Night Funkin?
Friday Night Funkin‘ is a free-to-play rythm game developed by a team of four people. The music themed game is a way to pay homage to all of the Flash Games that no longer exist since Flash stopped being supported at the end of 2020.
The main character, who is simply known as ‘boyfriend’, must defeat a variety of characters through singing and rapping contests. The goal for ‘boyfriend’ is to be able to date his love interest, who is simply known as ‘girlfriend’.
The game has a weekly format in which new songs are added per week for players to complete. Players also have the option to play the songs on one of three difficulties, easy, medium, or hard. As the difficulty level is increased, the speed of the incoming arrows increases and the patterns become more complicated.
If the player doesn’t want to follow the weekly structure, they also have the option to play ‘free mode’. This mode allows the player to ignore the cutscenes and simply play individual songs of their choice.
