Bandai Namco’s latest anime-style Action RPG, Scarlet Nexus, is here and has received a solid critical reception.
The game takes place in a futuristic, dystopian take on Japan and sees players fight the “Others” – a range of monstrous creatures that come from outer space.
Upon starting the game, however, players must choose to play as one of the two main protagonists, Yuito or Kasane. This decision can’t be reversed unless you start again.
So, with that in mind, here’s a quick breakdown of which of the two characters you should choose when starting Scarlet Nexus.
Yuito and Kasane Fighting Styles
One of the core differences between Yuito and Kasane is the way they fight.
The male protagonist, Yuito Sumeragi, focuses on close quarters combat. He uses a katana like sword to pull together some fast-paced, frenetic combos, which combine nicely with his Psychokinesis Powers.
He feels extremely smooth to play and the combination of the melee attacks and his powers are very slick.
Kasane Rendall on the other hand, keeps more of a distance between herself and the Others. She combines her Psychokinesis Powers with a range of throwing knives that she controls through the air.
She is a fun character to play if you enjoy racking up ranged combos while also throwing some closer attacks in the mix.
It should be noted, however, that Scarlet Nexus places a major emphasis on stylish action and this is definitely something you’ll notice regardless of which of the two characters you pick.
Thankfully, you won’t need to worry too much about the difference between the two character’s powers as they both use the same Psychokinesis.
One thing that does differ between the two though is their skill trees, as you’d imagine. Yuito’s is more focused on his melee attacks and Kasane’s on her ranged ones.
Yuito and Kasane Personalities
The pair’s personalities are outlined before you choose them, however, you can find them in the images below:
Yuito is effectively royalty, who comes from a family that don’t support the choices he has made in regards to joining the OSF.
Kasane is the Mikasa Ackerman of Scarlet Nexus. She’s cool, calm and extremely skilled at what she does. She was scouted into the OSF, rather than volunteering.
The final major difference between the two is the story. At this point, I won’t list the major plot differences between the two, but it should be noted that both characters have compelling stories and the game a ton of replayability, so there’s more than enough scope to go back and try the other later should you choose.
