Bandai Namco revealed on April 24 a new trailer for Tales of Arise, finally revealing a release date for the JRPG, and officially confirming it’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X after a previous tease – several new playable characters have been revealed as well. We translated their profiles below. (Thanks, Famitsu).
Tales of Arise PS5, Xbox Series X release date
Tales of Arise will launch in Japan on September 9, 2021, on PS5 and Xbox Series X, the PS4, Steam and Xbox One versions are still coming as well. While a release date was not specified yet for the west, Bandai Namco in the past stated the game would get a worldwide release. On the Tales of Arise Japanese official site, the Steam release is listed for September 10. It’s highly likely to be the Western release date as well.
New playable characters in Tales of Arise
The new trailer reveals Linwell and Rowe (Note that there are no official English spellings yet for their names). They’re two new playable characters, joining Alphen and Shionne.
Linwell, voiced by Sayuri Hara
A girl who suddenly appeared exhausted in front of Alphen and Shionne. She plans to help the resistance organization against Sithrodia, and join Alphen and co on their quest. While she’s from planet Dhana, Linwell can use Astral Artes like Shionne and the people of planet Rena. In battle, Linwell is a long-range attacker using Astral Artes. Linwell has a small Owl called Fururu.
Rowe, voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka
Rowe is a young man from Calagria, just like Alphen. While he’s from Dhana, he is part of the Rena police organization “Snake Eyes”, and appears in front of Alphen and co when they reach Sithrodia. It’s a mystery how he ends up joining the group. In battle, Law is a close range fighter.
