A PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X upgraded version of A Plague Tale: Innocence has been confirmed and will be releasing July 6 of this year. The game will utilize 4K resolution at 60-frames per second, enhanced visuals, support for 3D audio, and a free upgraded version of the game for those who have already purchased it on the PS4, but now have the new PS5 console. For those unfamiliar with the game, here’s a deep dive into its gameplay and storyline. A Plague Tale: Innocence is an action-adventure survival horror stealth game developed by Asobo Studio. It was first released for Microsoft Windows, PS4, and Xbox One on May 2019. The grim tale follows a little girl named Amicia and her little brother Hugo. The sibling pair is being hunted by Inquisition soldiers while being surrounded by unstoppable swarms of rats who have the plague. As they struggle to survive against overwhelming odds, darkest hours, while only relying on each other, they will soon come to know their purpose.

For awhile, fans speculated about the idea of the developer coming out with a new or remastered version of the game and they were right. Just before E3 2021, a leak was released on a forum site called Resetera claiming that the new remastered version would be included in the PS Plus line-up for July. Now with the news being confirmed, A Plague Tale: Innocence will be released alongside other highly-esteemed titles that will be detailed on June 30. In addition, word of this upcoming version arrived in the same exact week as Asobo announced a sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiemthat will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5 in 2022.

As for Nintendo Switch user, don’t feel left out. A Plague Tale: Innocence will be releasing on the Switch the same exact day alongside Control, Hitman 3, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
