Microsoft Flight Simulator’s Xbox Series X Port Is ‘Going Awesome’

There’s undoubtedly a lot of excitement surrounding the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S this summer, and the team at Asobo has shared some latest progress details for those versions.

Speaking as part of the official Flight Sim SDK Q&A yesterday on Twitch, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann explained that work has been “going awesome”, but the team won’t be rushing it to market:

“The Xbox port has been going awesome, but we’re smoothing the experience. It’s no longer really on the technical side, most of the work is on the experience side to make sure everything is really great. And we’re not going to release it before it’s great. It’s as simple as that. So therefore, as the team makes progress, and as everybody’s confidence goes to green, then we’ll talk about a release date. But before that, it’s silly.

We are very proud of the quality of the sim, and I hope you appreciate the quality of the sim and we want to keep that. So rushing to market is not what we’re doing.”

Neumann also highlighted during the stream (thanks Twinfinite) that despite a recent PEGI rating for Xbox One, the focus is currently on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions for this summer. However, the team is still working on a potential Xbox One version, but they aren’t entirely sure whether it’ll be possible just yet.
